aghili/karlsson participates in the Småland Biennial with the project Kojan, where artists and designers have been invited by Österängens konsthall to explore the theme of “spontaneous play” together with various child groups. The artist duo aghili/karlsson and their fellow artists from the preschool HallonEtt in Huskvarna have developed the installation pari*porten, which is a three-part work aimed at children and fairies.

The work consists of a blooming meadow, an interactive gate that leads into the meadow, and a stick cabin that visitors can continue to build on throughout the summer. The gate is just high enough for fairies and small children to pass through. It consists of watering cans that can be taken out to the meadow to water the flowers. The cabin in the meadow is accessed via a winding path, and its shape reflects the “fikakojan” that the children at HallonEtt have built themselves by Pustaleden. The cabin was constructed on-site by aghili/karlsson and fellow artists from HallonEtt in Huskvarna Folkets Park during the spring and will be showcased throughout the summer.

aghili/karlsson (Nasim Aghili and Björn Karlsson) is an artist duo that works with various forms of participatory practices and public artworks. Their work often stems from experiences and manifestations of exile and marginalization, and therefore focuses on the potential of art to create mournability and healing, often through collective rituals. They are based in Stockholm and in the countryside outside Södertälje, where they also have their garden and among other things grow herbs for their rituals.
