Diö Konsthall

In the small community of Diö, artist Ella Tillema will realize Diö Art Hall, a politically and socially engaging project.

Diö Konsthall is a flagpole with a continuous exhibition program located in the artist's garden, centrally in the community of Diö. Tillema moved from Malmö just over two years ago and found in Diö the conditions for an independent, experimental exhibition space that does not conform to the accustomed art audience or the normative, white cube for art. The art hall will be handcrafted by the artist using local materials during the spring, and the establishment engages both the local residents, the preschool and associations, as well as local businesses. The flagpole will then serve as a place for exhibitions for a year and invite a wide selection of artists from all over Sweden to freely relate to the format of Diö Konsthall and create new works that can be hoisted on the pole in generous and festive forms.

Diö Konsthall is financed with funds from the Swedish Arts Council and the Postcode Foundation.
