Mim Westberg-Johannesson

Mim is a versatile artist based in Gothenburg, with a diverse educational background and a passion for exploring various artistic expressions. After studying ceramics at Capellagården as well as completing a master's degree in political science and a bachelor's degree in global studies from the University of Gothenburg, Mim has a broad knowledge base.

Mim often draws inspiration from ideas and depictions relating to the rise and fall of different worlds, objects, and beings. By experimenting with materials and exploring the boundary between the natural and the unnatural, she creates works that challenge and fascinate. The expressions and aesthetics of naivism appeal to her, and in her creations, she blends various artistic influences.

For Mim, art is about building worlds for both herself and others to immerse themselves in. By balancing the intellectual and analytical with the intuitive and playful, she strives to create works that resonate and spark curiosity. In her artistic explorations, the viewer is encouraged to reflect on questions of change, decay, and what may arise from the ashes.
Mim's artistic journey is ongoing, and she looks forward to continuing to explore new expressions and create worlds that take the viewer on a journey beyond the known and familiar.
