Siggalycke Theatre School has a proposal

In the autumn of 2012, we, a collective of about 30 people from Malmö and Copenhagen, bought Siggalycke Folk School. We had gathered around the dream of sharing a house together and one of our criteria was that the house would be large enough that we couldn't know in advance what we would do with it.

For over ten years, we have organized self-organized schools in the house where we learn together for our own sake. No students, no teachers - but with a varying subject to gather around, explore, and experiment with.

Over three summers, we developed something we called sound schools - experiments in how one can learn through sound. And now we have decided to explore theater.

We have met for a week in our house and tried what theater can be for us. Many of us are professionals in the arts field, but few have professional experience of what it is to do theater together - or a school about theater, a school as theater, or a theater through a school.

We don't really know yet. But we know that part of working with theater involves turning to an audience and we would like to try to engage in dialogue with our surroundings even before we know where we are headed.

Come and listen to what we envision and join in a conversation about what is exciting about making theater, a school, both, or something in between, when you are not professionally active or used to the stage.
