Program
The hybrid performance Tal Till Nationen at Älmhults Folkets hus.
In collaboration with four art galleries across Sweden and Sápmi, Ful's anti-nationalist art project Tal till nationen continues in the form of a touring exhibition.
On July 1, the inauguration of the artwork ANTINATIONALISTISK by Björn Karlsson and Ful will take place at Diö Konsthall. This will be the third stop for this sculpture, which has previously been displayed at the art galleries FOLK in Skärholmen and Blå stället in Angered. After Diö, it will continue its tour to Havremagasinet in Boden.
The inauguration of the artwork ANTINATIONALISTISK will be followed by a screening of the film performance and choral work Tal till nationen, created by Ful in collaboration with the multiple award-winning musician Sara Parkman. The film performance is a unique combination of film screening, live performance art, sing-along, and cake-sharing led by one of Ful's designated hosts. Together, they create a collective tribute to freedom of speech and a declaration of love for the free word.
Speech to the nation is a project about artistic freedom and freedom of expression by the art group Ful. In 2022, the performance Speech to the nation was created together with the musician and composer Sara Parkman, which will be shown in a film version in cinemas and art halls in 2023. The project also includes a podcast series of the same name where Ful's Nasim Aghili meets artists who have been subjected to censorship, threats, or hatred. In the spring and summer of 2023, Speech to the nation will also become a touring exhibition in public places throughout Sweden and Sápmi. The new work ANTINATIONALIST by Björn Karlsson is based on their work with the sculpture in the form of an enormous tongue, which also serves as the stage for the performance Speech to the nation (for which Björn Karlsson created the set design and costumes). The new sculptural work that will be hung on lamp posts and building facades will also become a meeting place for conversations, workshops, and podcast recordings and is the starting point for several performative works by the art group Ful and invited artists that center questions around artistic freedom and freedom of expression in their practice.
