Program

Table Water, Overboard / Over the Table

This weekend, metaphorical representations on the themes of sea level rise and coastal erosion will be presented in and around Konstkiosk.

We also present Floating Islands, a design concept for Sylvanderparken in Kalmar, intended to provide a physical experience of walking beneath the sea level that would arise if the Greenland ice sheet melted. The exhibition includes around fifty signs on lamp posts displayed along four pathways in Kalmar, with associations to Kalmar's history and human impact on the climate.

The role of art in contemporary society can be to act as a mental compass in our existence and has the ability to broaden our minds, which will be necessary on the road to a more sustainable future.
