Program
On Saturday, August 26th at 2 PM, the first of two screenings of David Torstensson's essay film "Att ha rätt" will take place at Biograf Fokus in Jönköping. The film is approximately 35 minutes long.
In Att ha rätt (2023), a father's dedication to a small communist vanguard party is examined in relation to his Free Church background through a narrative voice. Can the kingdom of heaven and a classless society be said to resemble each other in their function of pushing happiness towards an abstract future? And how can a theological perspective contribute to reframing the father's political legacy?
Att ha rätt constitutes one part of the two-part film project "För sen ankomst," which takes its starting point in individual examples of communist and Christian organizing in a Småland context. During the Småland Biennial, Torstensson is also working on the project's other part, called Läsesällskapet, where he tests artistic and pedagogical strategies to measure proximity and distance to the revivalist movement Åkianerna, who in the late 18th century collectivized their farms to serve God full-time.
During the Småland Biennial, Att ha rätt will be shown on August 26th and September 23rd at Biograf Fokus in Jönköping, as well as at Kalmar Konstmuseum on a rolling schedule from September 2nd to 17th. In connection with the screening at Fokus on September 23rd, a subsequent conversation will be held between David Torstensson, the religious scholar Peter Carlsson, and the author Elisabeth Hjorth, moderated by the curator Johanna Linder.
