Performance program at Store Mosse

During the Contemporary Art Days 2024 in Jönköping and Värnamo, the Småland Biennial and Konstfrämjandet Småland organized a unique performance program in and around Naturum Store Mosse on October 14.

The evening program, which lasted about 2 hours, was divided into three parts and offered visitors a chance to experience contemporary art in an inspiring natural environment. Through this initiative, the Småland Triennale aimed to showcase a part of the artistic works created during the triennial. The performance program was largely driven by a desire to experience contemporary art in interaction with nature and to reflect on issues related to ecology and artistic practice.

Participating artists:
Amanda Cardell who previously presented an exhibition about Store Mosse at Vandalorum and at Naturum Store Mosse during the triennial 2023, conducted a performance work related to her participation. The piece took place at and around the Bird Tower and the landscape surrounding it. Visitors stood with the unique environment of the bog as a backdrop, invited to reflect on the bog and its significance.
Ella Tillema conducted a performance about biochar, where she ignited the charcoal in a kiln adjacent to Naturum and a nearby barbecue area. Through this action, she sought to explore the impact of biochar on nature and create a dialogue between art, humanity, and ecology.
Jan Carleklev participated with a sound performance, a kind of guidance through the landscape, which added a new dimension to the experience of both sound and nature.
