Joana Pereira lives and works in Malmö and Lisbon.
She is educated at Maumaus, Lisbon (2011-2012) and holds a master's degree in fine arts at Malmö Art Academy, Sweden (2016-2018). In 2019 she did an artist residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. She has exhibited in Malmö Konsthall, Adrogaria, Porto, Alta art space, Malmö and Lunds konsthall.
Joana Pereira’s artistic work ranges from monochrome painting to video and sculptural installations. She is interested in local histories of painting and how the medium always seems to take unexpected paths. Pereira sees painting as something unstable that has the ability to re-shape, transform, and adapt. Her work let’s materials migrate between public and private spaces.
