Josefin Jussi Andersson, born and raised in Svenarum, Jönköping County, educated at the Kunsthøgskolen in Oslo and at Konstfack in Stockholm.

Experiences of changes in the urban landscape have led me to focus on value in relation to place, earth, cycles, and time. In repeated attempts to link the processes of change in the city to a more existential dimension of the people or places affected by it. When land, often of an industrial nature in the city’s near periphery, is transformed into tall, exclusive buildings of concrete and glass, I want to understand the function of identity and the mechanisms of identity formation through my practice. How are value, economically, socially, philosophically, and physically affected?

Places that have been seen as a kind of periphery are transformed beyond recognition and reopened for the city’s inhabitants as living space and workplace. But can this architectural and social development be viewed in any light other than just development? My practice is based in text but often takes the form of performance; I also create books, publications, film, and music. I collaborate with other artists, performing artists, dancers, composers, musicians, and graphic designers.
