Grown out of all shoes - Performance by Josefin Jussi Andersson

Where is there space to dream? The artist Josefin Jussi Andersson is interested in contemporary urban planning and the gentrification that accompanies it in her practice. On September 2nd, she will present the performance piece "Grown out of all shoes" at Carl Nyrén's square in central Jönköping.

When land, often of an industrial nature in the urban near-periphery, is transformed into tall exclusive buildings of concrete and glass, Josefin Jussi Andersson seeks to understand the function of identity and the mechanisms of identity formation through her practice. How are values—economic, social, philosophical, physical—affected?

Perceived changes in the urban landscape have led the artist Josefin Jussi Andersson to focus on value in relation to place, soil, cycles, and time. In repeated attempts to link the processes of change in the city with a more existential dimension of the people or places affected by this, she poses the question of whether it is possible to regard this architectural and social development as anything other than just development? A plague? A pest that spreads, impossible to stop?

The performance piece "Grown out of all shoes" taking place in central Jönköping is a collaboration with Österängens konsthall and serves as the starting point for a larger project by Josefin Jussi Andersson together with Österängens konsthall and Smålandstriennalen.

The performance piece will be presented at Carl Nyrén's square (the square in front of Quality Hotel Match, at the entrance to the Tändsticks area) on Saturday, September 2nd at 1:00 PM.
