Lekkontoret participates in the Småland Biennale with the project Kojan, where artists and designers have been invited by Österängens konsthall to explore the theme "spontaneous play" together with various groups of children. Lekkontoret's idea is to create a movable hut that the children can set up themselves and that adapts to the conditions present at the location, such as existing climbing frames. The work is centered around the hut building as a concept and its temporary nature.
Lekkontoret entered the art project Kojan with the idea of using people as their artistic material. The focus is on sustainability and creativity, where part of the material is recycled sailcloth, and the other part consists of the participating children and educators - the builders.
The design team for the Traveling Hut includes designers Catherine Paterson, Lewis Smith, and Tifenn Lemarchand, a group of 15 children, and educator Olof Jonsson. Together, they have developed a mobile and modular hut through several workshops during the spring that can take on all kinds of forms. The hut was completed on the schoolyard of Österängsskolan during the spring and will be displayed throughout the summer.
Lekkontoret is a children's culture studio that designs things, environments, and experiences for and with children. The studio consists of a team of adults and child designers who work together on a design assignment using participatory design processes. Lekkontoret aims to increase children's influence and visibility in the city. The studio also works to use design to create meeting places for playful interactions between generations and people.
